Speaking up is complicated. There are hundreds of factors that go into moments before, during, and after you speak up that determines how, when, where, and whether you speak up again and under what circumstances.
Speaking up at work should be about sharing ideas, framing and making decisions, inviting critical discussions. But not everyone is OK with sharing out in the open, and that needs to be OK. There are other ways to speak up. What’s important is you ARE speaking up.
